Counselling Psychology in Soho and Liverpool Street in Central London

Dr Benjamin Piper Bsc Msc PsychD CPsychol HPC.
Clinical Lead at iRise Psychology.

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist in London with registration with the Health Professions Council and the British Psychological Society.

My private practice is called iRise Psychology, and we are a group of psychologists who operate in London from both Liverpool Street in the City and Soho in the West End. We offer short and long-term therapies drawing on both cognitive behavioural (CBT) and psychodynamic approaches. We also offer a number of group therapy options for specific disorders: please see our website for details.

Painful life events or personal issues embedded in our experiences of relationships, careers and health can be difficult to struggle with alone. For many, talking through these issues with a psychologist can help a person to understand the origins of their problems and learn to understand the process by which any issues are reinforced and maintained. Psychologists use evidenced based techniques in order to help you with this process.

Sometimes, putting thoughts and feelings to the back of our minds only leads to us to gain temporary relief from our pain as issues remain unresolved and can often keep returning. Therefore, it can be very good to talk!

A Little about Me

I have been working as a full time therapist for the last six years but have worked within the field of mental health for around 11 years. I have extensive experience working to a short-term/ time-limited model. This includes working with the following conditions:

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD- This is a specialist interest)
Social Anxiety and Phobia
Agoraphobia
Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
Body Dysmorhpic Disorder (BDD)
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Specific Phobias
Panic Attacks/ Disorder
Health Anxiety
Sleep Disorders
Anger
Stress
Low Self-Esteem
Adjustment Disorders.
Depression.

In addition, I work over a longer-term with many clients. These clients may need a longer term therapy approach due to the chronic nature of their difficulties. Many of these people have experienced difficulties in childhood, or started to experience difficulties as a result of traumatic event/s, and as a result are now struggling within relationships with others or with themselves.

Other specialist areas are:

Working with people who are struggling to adjust to a change in physical health.
Adjusting to chronic pain, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, HIV etc.
Working with people who are adjusting to a physical disability.
Working with the LGBTQ community.
Couples.

My therapeutic approach as a counselling psychologist is integrative and I draw from Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Humanistic therapy. In addition, I also have a keen interest in Mindfulness Meditation. My therapeutic style is adapted to best meet the individual needs of each client I see. I abide by the code of ethics of the Health Professions Council and British Psychological Society.

At iRise we feel our biggest chance for impact as a therapy service, lies not just in connecting people to valuable ideas, but in providing a safe environment, where they can feel connected and supported in their quest to make profound change. This website gives you a little info about myself and how you can book an appointment to see me. Please also have a look at the company website, www.irise-psychology.london, to learn more about us at iRise, and for some great useful content on and off our site.
